For the Love of Real Matcha
Drawing its name from the Japanese word Rei, an expression of zero, symbolizing new beginnings.
About Rei
REI Matcha embodies both reverence and renewal. REI represents our vision to redefine how matcha is experienced: authentic, accessible, and ever-evolving.
We work directly with partner farms in Japan to bring you authentic, stone-milled cultivars. By sharing the unique character of single-origin leaves, we ensure every cup is as fresh and vibrant as those enjoyed in Japan.
Why Single-Origin, Single-Cultivar
Most matcha is a blend. Leaves from different farms, different cultivars, and different harvests are mixed together to keep costs low and maintain a uniform taste at scale. This is industry standard because it is easier to source in bulk through brokers without knowing exactly where the leaves come from.
We take a different approach. Every tin of Rei Matcha comes from one farm in Kagoshima, made from one cultivar, from one harvest. This is harder to do. It requires a direct relationship with the farm, smaller production runs, and careful handling at every step. Most brands cannot offer this because they rely on middlemen who pool supply from multiple sources.
The result is matcha with real character. Okumidori is creamy and full-bodied. Saemidori is bright and naturally sweet. When matcha is not blended, you taste the cultivar itself, not a flattened average.
